Welcome to the Moldova Trade Forum 2024!

Over the past 30 years, trade has significantly contributed to global economic growth, increased income levels, and poverty reduction. However, the last few years have introduced unprecedented challenges due to geopolitical tensions, global supply chain disruptions, and economic instability. Moldova, like many countries, has faced regional administrative restrictions, disruptions in distribution channels, shortages of raw materials, and reduced access to financing for businesses. Additionally, companies have struggled with limited transport and logistics capacities, and insufficient digitalization of commercial and financial operations, leading to decreased revenues, workforce reductions, and in some cases, the closure of enterprises. This has been particularly severe for micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which are the backbone of the Moldovan economy.

Objective of Moldova Trade Forum 2024

  • Facilitate dialogue on global trade trends: Bring together key stakeholders from the governmental sector, private sector, international donor organizations, think tanks, and academia to discuss the latest trends in trade and explore recovery solutions for exporters.

  • Promote market access for Moldovan MSMEs: Support Moldovan micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in accessing European and global markets by aligning trade policies with EU standards and embedding technological innovations into trade practices.

  • Address financial and digitalization challenges: Explore access to finance, digitalization tools, and e-commerce as critical enablers for expanding trade and overcoming existing barriers in the post-pandemic economic environment.

  • Foster international business connections: Organize matchmaking sessions that connect Moldovan producers with buyers from European and global markets, providing a platform for new business contacts and contracts.

  • Support sustainable and inclusive trade: Discuss the role of economic diplomacy, sustainable trade practices, and the promotion of an inclusive, innovative, and green economy, particularly focusing on MSMEs.

  • Encourage innovation in trade: Highlight the importance of innovative tools, such as digital platforms and export-oriented clusters, to enhance trade operations and diversify market opportunities for Moldovan businesses.

  • Promote cross-border collaboration: Facilitate business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking between producers from both sides of the Nistru River and international buyers, emphasizing Moldova’s strategic role in regional trade​

  • Development of partnerships between producers in the Republic of Moldova and members of the diaspora: The B2B sessions aim to create new partnerships between producers from the Republic of Moldova and business leaders from the diaspora. This is a valuable opportunity for both the domestic and diaspora business communities to contribute to the economic development of our country, promote their products, and explore new market opportunities.

The format:

One day forum, consisting of several plenary sessions and 2-days targeted B2B sessions between the stakeholders, producers, service providers, retailers, distributors and buyers, and Moldovan producers
